Simone and Manda met in college in Ottawa, ON, Canada. While Simone has moved back to her native Trinidad, Manda remains in Canada.

Together they are about to undertake the most difficult 3 months of their entire life together...only...while residing in different countries.

SIMONE - DAY 19, 20, 21, 22

SO these last days were rough .. i was ill from thursday till the weekend (my eating wasnt that great then).. but i was def better by monday .. so yesterday i was back on track (great eating and lots of water today).. however i could not do the entire core i was kinda beat .. only did 20 mins ... i walked with my mom before for about 40 mins b4 .. and i ran for 25 mins before i started core .. i guess i pushed myself too far. anyway back on track today (tuesday) .. cardio x this evening after my walk with my mom .. should be a good day :)

Day 18 - Manda

Totally bailed on Yoga this morning. I reset my alarm and slept in until 7am. It was a beautiful thing. Lol.

I WILL do it tonight though. No doubt about it.

I am more and more confident every day that i can stick this thing out.

Eating today is going to be a bit of a pain. literally. Got my braces tightened yesterday and I am so feelin it. My teeth are extremely sensitive.

Simone I hope today goes well for you. I know it is your least favourite day of the week (as opposed to mine which is tomorrow.. f'in "legs and back" i hate you) but you can do it.

Day 17 - Manda

Woke up this morning and got straight to Ab Ripper X. I like to do the Ab workout before the other one.

I still cant do the V Up Roll Ups or whatever they are called and I have trouble with the Oblique V Ups to but every week I can pump out a couple more reps of everything else.

Shoulders and Arms went awesome today. I up'd my weights to 8's today for most of the exercises except mostly all of the tricep ones. I felt like i really worked today and had to grunt out the last couple reps.

Drank mad amounts of water yesterday. Was peeing like a pregnant lady but dont feel as though i am retaining as much today which feels good.

SIMONE: DAY 16 & 17

GOOD MORNING MANDA!!!

I HAVE BEEN GETTING INTO THE ROUTINE NOW .. IM OFFICIALLY BACK TO MY MORNING ROUTINE YAY!!!!

AFTER MY WORK OUT YESTERDAY (MONDAY) MY BF AND I DID A 15 MIN HARD FAST RUN FOLLOWED BY A 15 MIN WALK IT WAS AWESOME .. MY HEART WAS POUNDING AND IT WAS VERY HARD BUT FELT SOO GOOD WHEN I WAS DONE :)

SOO THIS MORNING TUESDAY MARCH 9TH I WOKE UP .. IT WAS VERY HARD TO WAKE UP AFTER PUSHING MYSELF WITH CORE AND A RUN/WALK THE PREVIOUS DAY BUT I DID IT CARDIO WAS AWESOME THIS MORNING AND AS MANDA SAID I REMEMBERED IT AS ONE OF MY FAV WORKOUTS :) I EVEN DIDNT MINE THE YOGA THIS MORNING.

I COULD TAKE YOGA IN SMALL INCREMENTS ... DREDDING THURSDAY FOR YOGA X .. I LOVE HAVING MY AFTERNOONS FREE TO TAKE A RUN .. NO PRESSURE TO HAVE TO DO THE P90X UNTIL MORNING TIME :)

Day 16 - Manda

Day 16 already. Man.

So yesterday I did get around to Core. Got a good workout out of it but maybe didnt push as hard as i could have.

Woke up this morning and hit Cardio hard though. Felt awesome. This is slowly becoming one of my favourite workouts. I like that it starts off with Yoga as I typically do Yoga first thing in the morning if i am saving P90x for after work and then you get all sorts of variety. I wouldnt have said this three weeks ago when i was doing the test run but the video really does move quite quickly now.

Back at work today so hopefully that will keep me on track with my diet. Didnt do so well while i was at home but really didnt do THAT bad either.

With each workout it feels just the tiniest bit easier to imagine myself making it to the end of this.

Simone - Have you seen the infomercial for INSANITY yet? Sweet mother of everything holy. If not go to the beachbody website and check it out. Ideally when I make it to the end of this round.. AND I WILL MAKE IT... i would like to do a round of the classic and then possibly take a stab at INSANITY. Let me know what you think suhmoeknee. Luv ya my trini princess!

SIMONE - DAY 13,14,15 & 16

good morning,

last time I wrote was friday ... and i made up for the missed day .. this weekend was def one of the hottest weekends of life 36 degrees celcius OMG and the air was still .. very hard to work out
not to mention i went to the hair dresser friday evening .. soo friday was a hopeless case and could not muster up the strength to work out .. and saturday was filled with errands and to do lists and the heat had everyone overwhelmed and drained two fans on me and keron just to keep sane lol

soo unfortunatley this weekend was not as productive as i thought it would be ... and of course sunday was some more needed relaxation with some more heat .. gosh i wish i could afford air conditioning :( .. anyway soo the eating wasnt that bad ... but i had a weak moment i had something called doubles sat night .. manda u remember that .. anyway not the healthiest .. but did pretty good other wise .. i had some fries .. baked .. but cassava and sweet potato fries .. just for a change with some sauteed chicken and shrimp for dinner last night .. holy yummy but not too bad i think... not much snacking and lots of water esp cause of the heat.

good news is I woke up this morning ..MONDAY MARCH 8TH AND KILLED CORE THIS MORNING ~~ :) mornings are def my thing when it comes to working out .. i have more energy .. once i get out of bed .. which by the way was soo hard to do .. .. im trying the p90x diet this week .. to see if this helps soo far im doing well today .. it satisfies me ... as i know it did before

i weighed on sunday and i lost 2 lbs which is good i now weigh 144 soo im happy with the progress slow but steady.

im going to try to run this evening on the treadmill tonight .. before keron and i try to go see alice in wonderland in 3d!!! im soo excited :) .. gonna eat dinner first soo im not tempted to cheat lol

my mom isnt feeling well these days soo our walks are put on hold until maybe next week when she feels better .. love u mummy!!!


good going manda .. we have hard days but the point is for us not to give up and keep on getting back on the horse!! we can do it .. even if we stumble !!!

Day ? - Manda

So I dont exactly know what Day it is.

This weekend went okay. I ate deep fried food on Saturday. I know. I know. I felt pretty guilty about it.

Did Kenpo and Ab Ripper X on Saturday since i COMPLETELY forgot to do it after Legs and Back on Friday. No excuse. It totally didnt occur to me that i had to do it.

Went for a pretty lengthy walk with my mom and saturday and sunday. She has decided she wants to be more active so i am happy for her and i think we are going to start walking on a pretty regular basis. Like you simone, my mom doesnt walk that fast so i dont consider it "exercise" personally but she needs the moral support and I am more than happy to oblige.

Yesterday (Sunday) i was dead to the world. I felt like shit. I fell asleep on the couch at 6:30 and didnt feel much better when i woke up this morning (Monday). Needless to say i didnt get around to Core this morning like I had planned but i am going to take it easy today and try and get some food into me and If i am up to it later on tonight i will do it.

SIMONE - DAY 12 &13

HEY SOOOOOOO I TRIED TO MAKE UP FOR THE DAY I MISSED ... I DID SHOULDERS AND ARMS AND AB RIPPER X (WHICH I COULD NOT FINISH ) .. THEN I RAN HARD ASS ON THE TREADMILL FOR 30 MINS!!! I WAS VERY PROUD OF MYSELF FOR STILL HAVING STRENGTH AFTER THOSE WORK OUTS.

SHOULDERS AND ARMS I WAS A BIT LACK LUSTER ABOUT IT I DEF DIDNT HIT IT HARD AND AB RIPPER I DID WHAT I CAN .. MY ENERGY WAS LOW FOR THAT .. BUT I PUSHED SOO HARD ON THE RUN AFTER . WHICH IS WHY MY KNEE IS SORE RIGHT NOW ( AN OLD KNEE INJURY ) BOO HOOO

Day 12 - Manda

I am tired. Super Duper-style tired today.

Yesterday I put on Yoga X after supper. I did the first half up until the balance poses and that was about all i could muster.

Later on in the evening after i did some laundry and dyed my brothers hair i busted out Yoga Burn with Rodney Yee which is an hour long. So while i may not have stuck out the Yoga X video i still feel i did a substantial amount of Yoga yesterday.

Woke up this morning to Legs/Back. My least favourite workout of the week.

The pads of my hands, right under my fingers, are a little sore from the pull ups. I never would have even remotely fathomed doing that many squats ever!

Weekend coming up. Hopefully i will have the will power not to over indulge this weekend.

Sorry for the lame post today. Tired.

Woke up at 6 this morning and hit play on Yoga X. I lasted about 15 minutes before i completely crashed. Just didnt have the energy this morning. I did indeed have my two glasses of wine last night (and perhaps one shot...) and i was out much later than usual.

I WILL do it tonight when i go home. No excuses.

No worries Suhmoeknee. Ill let it slip. hehe.

DAY 10:

SOO YESTERDAY UNFORTUNATELY I COULD NOT WORK OUT :( I KNOW IT WAS NOT PLANNED I HAD TO WORK LATE PLUS I HAD A DEADLINE FOR A PRIVATE CLIENT .. AND BY THE TIME I FINISHED EVERYTHING .. I WAS TOTALLY TIRED ... I WILL DEF MAKE UP FOR IT TODAY AND YOGA IT OUT AND ADD AN EXTRA MINI RUN AND PROLLY DO THE AB RIPPER TODAY AS WELL.

I GUESS I CANT BEAT MYSELF UP TO MUCH ABOUT MISSING IT .. WORK HAD TO COME FIRST ...

ANYWAY I ATE WELL YESTERDAY AND DRANK LOTS OF WATER SOO THIS IS JUST A MINOR SETBACK

Day 10 - Manda

Got up early this morning and got Ab Ripper X and Shoulders and Arms out of the way first thing.

I feel like I am making a bit of progress of Ab Ripper X but admittedly it is a slow journey. I still cant do the thing where you pop up and then lower yourself down and then push up to touch your toes from there. Really hard.

Shoulders and Arms went well. Not sure why but my left bicep started to "workout burn" last night so this morning i really felt it but made it through the dvd. Didnt do the bonus round. Not so much because i couldnt, i think i could have made it through but i was running pretty late for work. I forgot that we started having morning meetings on wednesday mornings at 8 which is half an hour earlier than i usually have to be there so we could discuss what happened at Council last night.

Did well with eating yesterday. Tonight could be a bit of a bust. I am going to a working dinner tonight for a committee i sit on which means a) i will be eating out at a restaurant and b) i will be with a bunch of adults who have no qualms about putting back a couple glasses of wine. I will try to limit myself to one glass, okay probably two but no more than that!

Noticed today that the black pants i wear to work are fitting a tiny bit looser. Definately having to pull them up more frequently and Simone im with you on the peeing every 5 minutes business. There is only me and 1 other women on the upstairs floor of the building i work in so her and I share a bathroom which is right next to her office so she must be convinced i have some sort of bladder problem by now. Aw well.

SIMONE- DAY 9 UPDATE AND DAY 10

GOOD MORNING !!!!

SOO YESTERDAY I SOOO MASH UP THE CARDIO X WORKOUT !!! I WAS AWESOME IF I MAY SAY SO MYSELF .. I DID EVERYTHING BUT THE DREYA ROLLS AS I STATED BEFORE I DONT DO NOT GOOD FOR MY BACK IN ANY WAY .. IT WAS DEF EASIER THIS WEEK I WAS SWEATING SOO MUCH AND IT FELT SOO GOOD .. AND LISTEN TO THIS AFTER I DID THE WORKOUT I RAN REALLY FAST ON MY TREADMILL FOR 10 MINS!!!! JUST FOR THAT EXTRA PUSH .. YES I KNOW *APPLAUSE*

MY EATING WAS IMPECCABLE I DIDNT CHEAT AT ALL AND I DRANK 3 AND HALF 630ML BOTTLES OF WATER YESTERDAY.. OMG I WAS PEEING EVERY 5 MINS IN WORK BUT WAS DEF WORTH IT !!! I FEEL GREAT AND CLEAN! :) IM CHALLENGING MYSELF TO DRINK THAT MUCH EVERYDAY.

LETS SEE HOW I WILL DO TODAY WITH THIS WORK OUT ... IM DOING THE EVENING THING AGAIN THIS WEEK .. I CANT SEEM TO WAKE UP EARLY LOL .. ANYWAY NEXT WEEK IM SUPPOSE TO WALK AGAIN WITH MY MOM .. AS SHE ISNT TOO WELL THIS WEEK SOOO ILL HAVE TO PUSH TO DO IT IN THE MORNINGS NEXT WEEK SO I CAN RUN ON EVENINGS WHILE MY MOM WALKS ... I KNOW I CAN DO IT .. AS THIS IS WHAT I DID WHEN I WAS TRAINING FOR MY HALF MARATHON LAST YEAR .. AND NOVEMBER I DEF WANT TO DO THIS RACE AGAIN SOO IM STARTING MY TRAINING FROM NOW AND I WANT TO DEF IMPROVE LEAPS AND BOUNDS FROM LAST YEAR .. I WANT TO PLACE IN THE TOP 300 IF POSSIBLE .. I PLACED 6 HUNDRED AND SOMETHING LAST TIME .. OUT OF 999 PEOPLE.


DAY 10:

SO TODAY I FEEL GOOD .. DRINKING MY WATER IVE ALREADY HAD A HEALTHY BREAKFAST AND HAD A BOTTLE OF WATER .. GOING ON TO BOTTLE TWO NOW !!! LOOKING FORWARD TO THE WORKOUT LATER .. HOPE I COULD DO A LITTLE RUN AFTER AS WELL :) WISH ME LUCK

Day 9 - Manda

Feel pretty good this morning. Woke up at 5:45am and ROCKED Cardio. Simone I was the same as you and couldnt do the Sphinx pushups either but this morning was different. I busted out 5 of them (on my knees of course). I would have cried i was so happy for myself had i not had at least another 30 minutes of work out left. Haha.

It feels SO GOOD to have it out of the way and know that i can just go home and relax tonight. My test run week was ROUGH. Not gonna lie or sugar coat it. It was ROUGH. Test run week i woke up EVERY morning and felt like i was gonna die afterwards. The first time i took cardio x for a spin i literally thought i was going to throw up when i was done. I think this was why i was so incredibly reluctant to go back to morning exercising. I had alot more energy when i switched to the after work workout but this morning i totally got through it and felt great after. I am going to try and keep up the morning routine.

Suhmoeknee, I thought of you this morning when things got really tough and wished that we were closer so we could workout together and I could have somone to push me for those extra couple reps that i tell myself i just cant do. Regardless, my mantra is still "simone did it, so can I". Love you my Trini Princess!

SIMONE - DAY 8 UPDATE & DAY 9

GOOD MORNING,

SO I WAS SUPER SUPER SUPER TIRED MONDAY MORNINGS ARE NOT MY FAV .. SOO I SLEPT IN ... AND WITH ALL THE WORK I HAD TO DO TODAY IT WAS SUPER HARD TO DO CORE AFTER WORK TODAY .. BUT I DID IT AND IT WAS ALOT EASIER TODAY OF COURSE .. I KNEW THIS .. BECAUSE OF LAST TIME I DID IT .. YOUR BODY GETS GROOVED AFTER EACH WORK OUT.. AND AS MANDA SAID UR BODY KNOWS WHAT TO EXPECT NOW WHICH HELPS.. I DEF DID ALMOST ALL THE REPS .. BUT THERE ARE SOME EXERCISES I JUST DONT DO .. AS I SAID DISCLAIMER ... THE SPHINX PUSH UP .. JUST CANT GET UP .. ALL THE OTHERS ARE FINE. THE PRISON PUSH UPS I CANT DO THAT MANY. I CANT DO DREYA ROLLS BECAUSE OF MY HARD FLOORS BUT ALL THE REST I TACKLED HARD AND I DID MAXIMUM REPS .. IM VERY PROUD OF MYSELF :) ... MY MOTIVATION TO ACTUALLY DO THAT WORK OUT IS BECAUSE THE SEASON FINALE OF THE BACHELOR WAS ON LAST NIGHT SOO I SAID I SHOULD GET THIS WORK OUT OUT OF THE WAY SO I CAN RELAX AND WATCH THIS :)

THE BACHELOR PICKED STUPID VIENNA BUT I GUESS THEY LOOK HAPPY SOO I CANT NOT BE HAPPY FOR THEM .. ANYWAY P90X IS GOING WELL AND MY EATING WENT OK YESTERDAY .. I HAD A SPOONFUL OF ICE CREAM AS MY BF GAVE ME A TASTE TO HELP MY SWEET (MONTHLY CRAVING) AND THERE IS LEFT OVER LASAGNE .. SOO I HAD A SMALL AMOUNT AND HAD A SALAD TO FILL ME UP.

I DRANK HUGE AMOUNTS OF WATER TODAY WHICH WAS GREAT AND DEF DID WELL WITH MY FOOD TODAY .. IM HAPPY. DESPITE MY LITTLE CRAVINGS WHICH I EXPECT THIS TIME OF MONTH :)



DAY 9:

SOO AFTER STAYING UP UNTIL 12 LAST NIGHT TO WATCH THE BACHELOR ETC I WAS SUPER TIRED THIS MORNING AND ONCE AGAIN WATCHED MY ALARM AND SET IT FOR LATER ... SOO I WILL HAVE TO DO CARDIO X THIS EVENING .. LOOKING FORWARD TO IT ..

Day 8 Update - Manda

Core went really well today. I feel like i make a little bit more progress every week. Push a little harder, stick out a couple more reps, sweat a little more. Feels good. Maybe its because i have a better idea of what to expect now and the whole "is this ever going to end?" wondering is gone.

Did not do the bonus round. Again. C'est la vie.

More or less stuck to my meal plan today although i did cheat and have 4 of those tiny red big feet candies. I dont know if anyone outside of canada would even know what they are but in no way shape or form are they even remotely nutritious. lol. My office will slowly be the death of me i think. The lady who brought them in bought this ginormous (seriously huge, like a sack of potatoes huge)bag at costco and brought them in so she wouldnt eat them all (much like i did the muffins so i cant hate on her too much. i feel her pain).

Day 8 - Manda

I had good intentions of waking up early this morning to rock core synergistics but it just didnt happen. My alarm went off, and i gave it some serious consideration, but ultimately just couldnt haul my ass outta bed. Once i did roll out of bed however i did manage to get in a 20min Energizing Yoga Routine with my beloved Rodney Yee. (Should we change the name of this blog to "Manda Loves Rodney Yee"?)

This weekend was a bit of a bust eating wise. Last week i did pretty good and for the most part stuck to my meal plan but saturday and sunday were questionable. I am hesitant to meal plan a whole week but think i might have to for the next couple of weeks to keep on track and form good habits.

I had a blueberry muffin this morning. I made blueberry lemon streusel muffins for my coworkers to brighten up their monday morning (or sometimes i bake to celebrate the upcoming weekend and bring in treats on friday morning) and i couldnt bring myself not to try one. I did factor the calories into my meal plan today. It is unfortunate i love to cook/bake as much as i do. I always want to try out recipes and it would be impossible not to try at least a little of everything i cook. Anyway, now that the blueberries are out of my fridge i will try to refain from baking delicious goods, much to the disappoint of my coworkers i am sure. I just dont have the kind of self control needed to tempt it.

Gonna go home tonight and rock the core dvd right away. I think because of the energy required for both core and cardio i will continue to do these after work and wed, thurs, fri, and sat will get the morning treatment.

Glad to hear you are still with me Simone. We can do this! Together!

SOO DEF DIDNT HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND I DEF CHEATED .. I HAD MY GRANNYS YUMMY LASAGNE ON SUNDAY FOR LUNCH AND A SMALL CUP OF NEOPOLITAN ICE CREAM AND SOME OF MY FREINDS YUMMY CHEESE DIP WITH A HANDFUL OF TORTILLA CHIPS ... SADNESS .. BUT ITS A NEW WEEK NOW AND WELL ILL HAVE TO TRY HARDER .. I KNOW MY MONTHLY LADY FRIEND DID AFFECT MY WILL POWER
SOO THIS COMING WEEK SHOULD BE BETTER.

FRIDAY DAY 5 : WAS GOOD DID THE WORK OUT GOT THROUGH IT WELL .. LEGS AND BACK .. MY LEGS ARE DEF SORE TODAY .. THOSE WALL SQUATS ARE A BITCH! LOL BUT DEF GOT THROUGH IT WELL. SATURDAY DAY 6: YAY KEMPO X MY FAV WORK OUT! I DEF ENJOY THAT ONE .. I DID TAE BO FOR YEARS AND KEMPO X IS VERY SIMILAR :) .. THIS WAS THE DAY I CHEATED WITH THE CHIPS AND DIP :(

SUNDAY DAY 7: SOO MY MONTHLY LADY FREIND ARRIVED TODAY SOO I WAS DEF CRAMPED UP AND FEELING LAME BUT THIS IS WHY MY CRAVINGS WERE DEF BAD SOO THE ONE PLATE OF LASAGNE WHICH IS MY FAV MEAL MY GRANNY DECIDE TO MAKE .. I COULD NOT RESIST .. PLUS SHE BOUGHT ICE CREAM FOR ME .. I HAD A SMALL CUP ... SOO REGRET BUT ANYWAY I DID MY WEIGH IN ON SUNDAY MORNING
